Assistant Researcher (100%) The Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology-Oncology is seeking a candidate for a position at the rank of Assistant Researcher. Experience should be in identification and validation of novel molecular targets in cancer and evaluation of novel therapeutics in vivo. POSITION IN CARDIOLOGY
The Division of Cardiology is looking for a chemist/biochemist/analytical chemist with a background in lipid oxidation chemistry. Our lab studies the effect of oxidized phospholipids on cardiovascular disease. In particular, we are interested in how electrophilic phospholipids oxidation products modify proteins in the blood vesel wall and how this contributes to atherosclerosis. Techniques used to understand this include simple synthetic chemistry, electrospray ionization-LC-MS(/MS), western analysis, and proteomic techniques (trypsinization, mass spectrometry). Assistant Researcher: The Department of Medicine at UCLA is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Assistant Researcher in the Division of Hematology-Oncology. Candidates should have an M.D. or Ph.D. This position is available for research projects related to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) pathogenesis in macrophages and genetic manipulation of human embryonic stem cells (hESC).
A successful candidate is expected to have a strong background in molecular and cellular virology, as well as experience working with small animal models. Some expertise in culturing hematopoietic progenitor cells derived from hESC is also required. The candidate must be able to independently generate mutant HIV clones and lentiviral expression vectors for use with the above mentioned techniques. The ideal candidate will also have a proven ability to perform live HIV culture, immunomagnetic cell sorting, and macrophage infection assays. Experience in generating and analyzing flow cytometry data is preferred, as is the ability to perform molecular evolutionary analysis using HIV nucleotide sequences.
